Microsoft Excel is a powerful tool for data analysis and visualization, widely used in modern office environments. This beginner-friendly course offers a guided introduction to Excel, gradually building skills in data entry, formatting, and basic calculations using built-in functions.
Overview
In this course, students will first get acquainted with the Excel interface and learn how workbooks and spreadsheets are organized. They will explore how to customize menus, cells, rows, and columns to fit their needs. From there, the course introduces Excel’s core functionalities, including basic arithmetic operations and commonly used functions such as SUM and AVERAGE.
Objectives and content
- Navigating the Excel interface and window layout
- Customizing the menu and Quick Access Toolbar
- Understanding the structure of workbooks and worksheets
- Recognizing and using different file types
- Customizing, copying, and moving cells, rows, and columns
- Formatting cells for clarity and presentation
- Writing formulas for basic arithmetic and percentage calculations
- Using relative and absolute cell references
- Applying basic functions: SUM, MIN, MAX, COUNT, and AVERAGE
Prerequisites
Participants will have access to a PC in the computer lab (Campus 2). Alternatively, you may bring your own laptop.
