The European approach to AI policymaking: Unpacking the path to trust and excellence
Referent: Antoine-Alexandre André (European Commission, AI Innovation and Policy Coordination)
Kurzbeschreibung:
Today, EU’s approach to AI policymaking has reached a consolidated status, characterised by a comprehensive governance framework and a set of concrete instruments covering regulation, capability-building and AI adoption. This session will trace the path that led to this, and the balance between fostering excellence and ensuring trust that has shaped it throughout. Through a chronological lens, it will identify the three main phases - exploration, transition, and maturation - that characterise the work of the EU on AI and will explain the content of its three main current building blocks: the AI Act, the AI Continent Action Plan and the Apply AI Strategy.
